Located in San Diego, California the Diamonds was founded in 2012 by Maderia Toatley. Founder Toatley would soon be known as the creator of the first collegiate majorette dance team at a PWI. The creation of the Diamonds was inspired by majorette style dance originating in the South. Since 2012 the Diamonds have continued to showcase their talent and spread majorette style dance across the West Coast. After the success of the Diamonds other majorette teams on the West Coast have emerged at UC Berkeley, University of Southern California, Cal State Dominguez Hills, and San Francisco University. It is the teams hope to continue to empower others and inspire the next generation of dancers.
